An intro to Sofia: Bulgaria’s capital Sofia is a great place for a long weekend break, and a great way to experience an Eastern European capital with vast historical and cultural treasures. Sofia benefits from cheap food and drinks, as well as some very good deals on accommodation. There are many museums to visit in Sofia and an old but reliable tram system to get you from a to b. Some things are a little confusing – not least the use of the cyrilic alphabet – and the market – although looks nice – can sell some fairly bad produce. Beware – winters in Sofia are very cold and summers are very hot.
