Honduras travel guide

Unfortunately, Honduras was in the middle of a Military Coup and re-elections which meant the whole country faced a dusk til dawn curfew. The situation was very tense, with many restaurants, internet cafes and the Hotel in which we stayed having armed guards at the doors. I travelled to Roatan, a small island off the coast of Honduras for some diving, only to face Hurricane Ida in 2009. I spent 3 days in the rain! Therefore, I have no photos which really do Honduras justice. I will surely visit again one day, as Honduras is a lovely country – especially near the border with Guatemala. Roatan is very expensive however so do be warned – prices for food and drink are mainly in US dollars and of US price equivalent.

One great restaurant I can recommend on Roatan is the Noodle Shack – a huge plate of Noodles made how you want it – served with ice tea. Tasty
